In biology, spatial 3D organization informs function. However, determining the structure of biological systems is often very challenging. For example, we have limited knowledge on how the 2-meter-long DNA molecule folds in the micro-sized nucleus or how the spatial organization of cells in a tissue is encoded in our genomes.
Our research group employs the laws of physics and the rules of evolution to develop and apply experimental/computational methods for determining the 3D structures of biological systems. In particular, we study the following:
