Basic qualifications:
- PhD degree or equivalent in Chemistry or related discipline.
- Capable of organizing own research and publish results in peer reviewed journals in the Chemistry-Biology interface.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both in Spanish and English.
Preferred qualifications:
- Previous participation in anti-infective drug discovery projects.
- Previous post-doctoral experience (> 12 months)
- Previous experience in liaising with external academic partners in European Consortia.
Details:
The Tuberculosis Discovery Performance Unit operates in close partnership with a number of international stakeholders worldwide. The position reports to the TB DPU Manager, and it is expected that the successful candidate will work with external collaborators, scientific consortia, non-for profit organizations and funding agencies (EU and US). As part of these activities, the TB DPU has been recently been awarded a European ERA-NET Pahtogenomics (GeMoA) grant in partnership with another 4 academic groups in Europe to unravel the mode of actions of new families of anti-tuberculars generated by GSK. The duration of the position is from 18 months to 24 months.
Job Purpose
- To design and synthesize new chemical entities and make sure partners are supplied with reference tool compounds (re-synthesis) for MoA studies.
- To liase with external partners with regard to compound selection and collections of results.
- To liase with internal (GSK) colleagues to profile the synthesized compounds in a number of drug discovery related assays and participate in compound progression decisions.
- To coordinate internal (GSK) and external (EU partners) activities and report on progress.
Area of Responsibility
- To make sure that:
- GSK is fully integrated with consortium partners.
- Timely compound supply to Academics.
- Data is collected from Academics and learning’s are communicated to internal GSK teams.
- To document and report to ERANET and Consortium Coordinator.
Influence & Communication
• Role requires strong scientific and organisational influence skills to secure and align resources.
• Role requires strong influence skills to gain support from the Academic partners, their institution and relevant GSK business partners.
